The assumption that the language used in plays resembles is very similar to spoken laguage

"Thou" occurs more often in drama than in court records because

plays are closer to reality than trials
in drama the share of lower class characters is higher than in trials
the language in plays has to transport more meaning

To analyse the pronouns of address in a play, it is not that necessary to look at

the relationship between the characters
the colour of their clothes
the social status of the characters
