3. Different Forms of Deixis

The German psychologist and linguist Karl Bühler, who today is still considered the forerunner in examining the domain of pragmatics, identified in the 1930s three different forms of deixis:

personal deixis

temporal deixis

spatial deixis?

In more recent studies linguists like Stephen Levinson defined also

social deixis

discourse/text deixis

as independent domains of deixis (Levinson 1983, 54-94).

In the following you will get to know all five forms of deixis.
