Henry Bradley

Henry Bradley was born 1845 Bedford. He was a writer for the magazine called Academy, but he was not famous or well known. This changed when he wrote an essay on Part I of the New English Dictionary. The essay consisted good criticism combined wisely with admirement.
It did not take long to catch Murray's attention. In 1884 he joined Murray’s Dictionary staff, first as an assistant editor and later as joint editor. After Murray’s death Bradley succeeded him as senior editor of the Oxford English Dictionary.
