Broadsheet papers

  • largest newspaper format
  • long vertical pages (22 inches or more)
  • suggests a high standard of quality
  • eg.:Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Times

Berliner Format

  • also called "midi"
  • 470mm x 315mm (18½ in × 12.4 in)
  • used in many European countries
  • eg.: The Guardian

Tabloid Format

  • smallest format of the three mentioned
  • compact page size
  • ≠ "tabloid journalism" (sensational crime stories, astrology, celebrity, gossip and TV)
  • UK:used for many local newspapers, popular
  • US:alternative newspapers
  • 430mm x 280mm (16.9 in × 11.0 in)
